My Voice…Your Voice…Our Voice

There has been times in my growing up where I had hardly nothing. Where we slept in a car a night or two… Where there was no food… Sometimes there was no electricity… But in all of those times of hardship, there was always one thing that I had. And that was my voice… And to elaborate, song… No matter what the hardship that was set in front of me, there was always music to be heard… To be sung…
And now as an adult, I am part of choir that sounds so tremendous collectively that I get shivers hearing it. I am on the Board of Directors among people that give selflessly their time for this great organization… And most importantly to me, I am the Chair of the Outreach and Education Committee. And I say that this is most important to me, because I have the power to pass on this gift of voice to those that follow in my footsteps of adversity and hardship. That I can enlighten these young people in the way that as long as they have a voice, they have power in their lives. That as long as they have a voice, they can mold their own destiny. That as long as they have a voice, they too will have the power to pull themselves out of the depths of despair and hardship and into the light that is song…
If you would also like to be a part of this movement, please reach out to me and become a part of the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers Outreach and Education Committee… You don’t have to sing, but you will have a voice. A voice that many will hear and take note of and hopefully be inspired by so they might also have the chance to help those following in their foot steps…

While this committee is not exclusive in exposing the under-served to the trans-formative power of choral music, it is an important aspect of it. Other important people that we offer outreach and education to are school children, the elderly, at-risk youth, the elderly and communities not yet familiar with our organization. Once again, if you feel like this is something that moves your person in a positive and energizing way, please join us.
